Recognizing The Spring Equinox

Hello again, this is “Writings From The Web”!

Spring has a quiet way of reminding us that change is possible. Around the spring equinox, when day and night are starting to feel more balanced, it can be a gentle invitation to check in with yourself. In Midwest areas, where winters can feel especially long and isolating, those extra minutes of daylight matter. Let them. Even stepping outside for a few minutes and noticing the sun lingering a bit longer can help shift your mood and create a small but meaningful reset.

As temperatures warm up, it is a great time to reconnect with simple coping skills that feel doable and grounding. Maybe that looks like taking a short walk down a gravel road, practicing mindful breathing while doing chores, or journaling at the kitchen table with the windows cracked open. This season can also be about reclaiming rest, joy, and space, especially in environments that do not always make that easy. Your wellbeing is worth tending to, just like the fields and gardens that will soon start to grow.

Spring does not require a full life overhaul. It simply asks for small, steady shifts. Open a window. Reach out to someone you trust. Try one new coping skill and see how it fits. Growth can be slow, uneven, and still deeply meaningful. As the days stretch longer and the air softens, give yourself permission to do the same.
